NEW HAVEN, CT (September 7, 2018)…Murtha Cullina LLP is pleased to announce it will be joining the community and opening an innovative new office model called The Law Lab at District New Haven. The Law Lab is located at 470 James Street in New Haven, Connecticut.

The Murtha Cullina Law Lab is intentionally designed to be unlike traditional law offices. The Law Lab is an engaging, interactive and open environment with collaborative work spaces and presentation areas.   The Law Lab will be open to all members of District New Haven, the Drive coworking space, and others both as a place to meet with attorneys on demand and as an additional collaborative workspace. The Law Lab will be staffed daily and will host regular complimentary programming for entrepreneurs at District New Haven and for the greater New Haven community, including monthly educational seminars.  As a full service law firm, Murtha Cullina advises clients on many legal practice areas including business law and financing, intellectual property, labor and employment, privacy and cybersecurity, real estate, tax and immigration.

District New Haven is a nine-acre, technology and innovation campus for early stage and growth companies. It includes office spaces, coworking space, a fitness center, media studio, and a soon to be open restaurant with a beer garden and amphitheater. The Murtha Cullina Law Lab provides members of District with convenient cost-effective, creative legal counseling and intellectual property and patent strategies. “We accepted Murtha Cullina’s proposal because it was progressive and innovative and showed that they truly wanted to nurture young entrepreneurs and companies,” said David Salinas cofounder of District New Haven. “The addition of the Law Lab adds an unmatched value to our ecosystem and campus.”

“District New Haven is a dynamic and innovative use of space in a great location.  In a short time it’s already attracting diverse and talented entrepreneurs, all who share the common goal of improving the economy and the startup ecosystem in Connecticut,” said David A. Menard, Co-Chair of the Emerging Companies Practice Group and Murtha Cullina Executive Committee member. “We are thrilled that the Law Lab will enable us to meet and work with many new and emerging businesses in our State.”

“The Law Lab gives us a better chance to counsel and educate startups on patent and other IP issues early in their existence, which is often the time when steps should be taken to ensure the preservation of IP rights and to lay the groundwork for a successful IP strategy,” said Anthony P. Gangemi, Chair of the Intellectual Property Practice Group and Managing Partner of the Firm’s New Haven office.
