On August 29, Trusts & Estates chair Suzanne Brown Walsh will speak before the IRS Estate and Gift Tax Group, presenting the topic, "Estate Planning for Crypto and Other Digital Assets."

In this presentation, Suzy will explain how new types of digital property, including virtual currencies and non-fungible tokens, present challenges in estate planning, administration, valuation and taxation. She will also provide an overview of cryptocurrency and NFTs. Lastly, Suzy will outline the statutes that govern the management and disposition of these digital assets, including privacy, access and regulatory concerns.

In addition to her robust Trusts & Estates practice, Suzy represents Connecticut as a member of the Uniform Law Commission (ULC). She is also a Fellow of the European Law Institute and serves the Advisory Committee for its Access to Digital Assets Project. Previously, she has chaired the ULC's Drafting Committees on Electronic Estate Planning Documents, Electronic Wills and the Revised Uniform Fiduciary Access to Digital Assets act, among others.
