In early November, Trusts & Estates practice chair Suzanne Brown Walsh will participate in two sessions at the 61st Annual Hawaii Tax Institute.
On November 5, alongside attorney J. Dax Hansen, she will present on “Resolving the Mystery of Digital Assets (including Crypto Currency) and How to Manage and Plan for Them.” The session will explain what a digital asset is and why and how cryptocurrency is different than traditional and other digital assets. Suzy and Dax will also outline how to plan for the transfer and disposition of this unique asset class along with ways to incorporate them into a wealth transfer strategy.
The next day, Suzy will participate in a session titled “A Wealth Transfer Advisor’s Guide to the AI Universe and Its Many Uses,” speaking alongside Joseph J. Barrata and Brandon Park. The session will encourage Wealth Transfer Advisors to learn and understand AI technologies and adapt their practices accordingly in order to maintain a competitive advantage. They will also discuss the ways AI is presently available to Wealth Transfer Advisors, their role in safely using it in client matters, and how to safeguard their clients against deepfakes and other malicious uses of AI technology.
Suzy is a member of the Hawaii Tax Institute Faculty. The Annual Tax Institute is the nation’s premiere tax and wealth transfer conference. A live stream of the conference will be available for those who cannot attend in-person.
