Murtha Cullina LLP Partner Bruce McDermott was recently chosen to serve a five year term on the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Board.
The Connecticut Energy Efficiency Board’s (EEB) 15 members are drawn from private and public entities and represent a cross section of energy consumers including residents, businesses, communities and municipalities. The EEB members utilize their experience and expertise with energy issues to evaluate, advise, and assist the state’s utility companies in developing and implementing comprehensive, cost-effective energy conservation and market transformation plans to help Connecticut consumers reduce energy use in their homes and businesses and to help the state meet its changing and growing energy needs. The Board was created in 1998 by the Connecticut State Legislature.
Mr. McDermott is Co-Chair of the Murtha Cullina Energy Practice Group and Chair of the Firm’s Renewable Energy Practice Group. He represents participants in the competitive electricity markets and end users, developing innovative and strategic approaches to energy challenges and opportunities.
Mr. McDermott’s energy experience includes negotiating and structuring all legal aspects of several electric power generation projects from the conceptual stage through completion including review of energy purchase agreements including a microgrid project. In addition, Mr. McDermott assists with infrastructure siting for electric generation plants, substations and telecommunications facilities.
Mr. McDermott is admitted to practice in Connecticut and New York. He received his LL.M in Environmental Law from Pace University School of Law, his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and his B.A. in government and psychology from Lafayette College.
