As part of our celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month during May, we asked Andy Corea, Murtha's Managing Partner, what his Southeast Asian heritage means to him. Andy has been actively involved with the South Asian Bar Association of Connecticut and the South Asian Bar Association of North America for many years, which has enabled him to develop and cultivate close relationships with other South Asian lawyers.

Andy said, "South Asian attorneys like to joke that we are disappointments to our parents, who wanted us all to be doctors. But my South Asian heritage has been profoundly important in my career. It’s given me a different perspective on the problem solving that is fundamental to legal practice, and it has helped me connect with different communities. I have developed close working relationships and closer friendships through involvement with the South Asian Bar Association of Connecticut and the South Asian Bar Association of North America. I’ve watched with pride as South Asian lawyers have ascended to leadership roles on the bench, in law firms, and in corporate law departments."
