Murtha Cullina LLP is pleased to announce it has joined the Law firm Antiracism Alliance (LFAA), a newly-established organization with the goal of bringing together law firms to create meaningful pro bono projects that address systemic racism.
The purpose of the LFAA is to promote collaboration of law firms, legal service organizations and other sectors of the legal profession to benefit communities of color and to promote racial equality in the law.
“We look forward to collaborating with the LFAA and other member firms to help improve upon social injustices in the law,” said Murtha Cullina Managing Partner, Jennifer Morgan DelMonico. “We are proud to support this initiative, which is particularly important during these challenging times.”
Murtha Cullina has regularly supported diversity and inclusion in the legal community. The firm is a founding member of the Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity and of the Connecticut Alliance for Business Opportunities (CABO), the state’s first Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Chamber of Commerce. The firm was also one of the first Connecticut firms to subscribe to the Connecticut Bar Association’s Pledge of Gender Equity. In addition, Murtha Cullina has a long history of pro bono service, including the representation of individuals who have sought legal assistance from State-wide legal services programs and military veterans. The firm has also assisted various non-profit organizations with their representation of children in juvenile and family court. Recently, the firm joined the Connecticut Bar Association “Connecticut COVID-19 Small Business Virtual Legal Clinic” to assist small, mostly minority-owned businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
