Daniel Krisch recently joined Murtha as a partner and head of the Appellate practice based in the Hartford, CT office.
Dan has two decades of experience resolving complex legal issues during all stages of litigation for a wide range of corporate, institutional and individual clients. He has argued more than 120 appeals, including matters related to multi-million-dollar tort verdicts, commercial and contract litigation, complex divorce cases, zoning and land use matters, serious criminal convictions, election disputes, and issues of constitutional law and fundamental rights.
He advises clients about appellate issues and helps them anticipate and prepare for appeals, all while prioritizing their goals, recognizing that successful appeals begin long before they are filed.

Why did you join Murtha?
I joined Murtha because I love to collaborate with and learn from smart and talented lawyers who also are great people, and because Murtha has a strong regional presence that will help me grow my practice.
Tell us about your practice.
My practice has four main components:
- I brief and argue civil and criminal appeals in the Connecticut Supreme Court, Connecticut Appellate Court and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
- I draft and argue complex dispositive motions in the trial court and collaborate with trial lawyers to properly raise and preserve issues for appeal.
- I counsel clients and lawyers before, during and after appeals.
- I represent clients in civil litigation.
What do you enjoy most about being a lawyer?
The thing I enjoy most about being a lawyer is helping people solve problems.
Why did you become a lawyer?
I became a lawyer because I was a Law & Order addict in college. I watched seasons 2-5 obsessively and dreamed of being a prosecutor like the ones in the show.
What do you do in your free time?
I have three kids – 7, 5 and 2 – so free time is scarce. But, when I get some, I love to cook, work out, read, play golf and travel.
