Why did you join Murtha Cullina?

Initially, I became interested in Murtha Cullina because someone I know spoke very highly of the firm and its attorneys. Also, the firm has a strong reputation. Ultimately, I joined Murtha because I was impressed with the people I met here. They are talented and capable professionals and nice human beings who seemed earnest about their profession and the firm. That combination made this firm an attractive place to practice law.

Tell us about your practice.

The primary focus of my practice is representing institutional lenders making mortgage loans on commercial properties and portfolios throughout the United States. In my time practicing, I have worked on loans in almost all of the 50 states and in Canada. The properties are multi-family, industrial, office, retail and hotel.  In recent years, multi-family and industrial properties have been a dominant area of concentration. In times when the economy has struggled, I have also helped lenders with workouts and restructurings when necessary.

What do you enjoy most about being a lawyer?

The people. Over the years I have encountered so many interesting people in my practice.  It has been both fun and challenging, but it’s the people that have made the practice interesting. The most gratifying aspect of being a lawyer is being able to help someone resolve a problem that they have been unable to get through on their own. There have been times when I have felt as if I could almost see the weight being lifted from someone’s shoulders as they described a problem they were facing and we were able to assure them that we could help.

Why did you join Murtha Cullina?

I joined Murtha first and foremost because of the high caliber of lawyers that work here. I also really wanted to be at a firm with a broad scope of clients and areas of expertise where I can grow my practice and hone my skills.

Tell us about your practice.

My practice involves all areas of real estate and some corporate work. A large part of my practice involves lender representation/finance of commercial mortgage loan transactions all over the country. For my developer clients I handle purchase and sales as well as financing matters. A portion of my practice is also commercial leasing. I also handle some corporate matters such as business entity formations, drafting of operating agreements or other corporate documents and corporate transactions (asset purchase/stock sales, etc.)

What do you enjoy most about being a lawyer?

I really enjoy having the opportunity and privilege of seeing a client’s project through from start to finish – starting with a concept and then working with the client and his/her various professionals to bring the project/concept to completion is extremely satisfying.  I also really value all the incredibly smart and sophisticated people who I am able to work with in my job as a lawyer; it offers the opportunity to learn so much about both legal and non-legal matters.
