Dana Bucin, partner and chair of Murtha Cullina's Immigration practice and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee, attended a week of events in Washington, D.C. in July, celebrating the strategic partnership between Romania and the United States. As Honorary Consul of Romania to Connecticut, Dana participated in a press conference with Senator Richard Blumenthal on Ukraine’s inclusion in NATO and reiterated Romania’s support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity in its internationally recognized borders.

In the last year, the Honorary Consulate of Romania to Connecticut has assisted 2,000 Ukrainian refugees seeking humanitarian parole at the U.S.-Mexico border. As founder of the CT for Ukrainian Refugee Matching Program, a public service/pro bono partnership between the Honorary Consulate of Romania to Connecticut and the firm, Dana has helped nearly 100 Ukrainian refugees relocate to Connecticut.

Throughout the celebration, officials from the U.S. Departments of State, representatives from the Office of the Vice President, Romanian-American elected officials, members of the Romanian Parliament and His Excellency, Andrei Muraru, Ambassador of Romania to the United States, led discussions on the topics of strategy, security and defense, the Romanian economy and the development of renewable energy, the fight against Anti-Semitism and discrimination, and the Visa Waiver Program, which would open doors to expanded visa-free travel by Romanians to the United States.

The week’s events concluded with a reception at Capitol Hill attended by legislators in support of the Black Sea Security Act and the Visa Waiver Program.
