Melanie N. Aska is pleased to announce that the 2022 edition of the Pension Distribution Answer Book (Wolters Kluwer, New York, NY) is now available. Ms. Aska co-authored this publication with James E. Turpin.
The Pension Distribution Answer Book is an easy-to-understand guide to complying with complex statutes and regulations pertaining to qualified plan distributions. It provides expert guidance on the complex rules governing distributions from tax-qualified retirement plans. It also provides readers with practical tips on complicated issues such as ERISA, administrative and reporting requirements and strategies to minimize taxes and penalties and maximize benefits and contributions. The first edition of this book was published in 1995 and it has been updated annually since then.
Ms. Aska has over 30 years of experience in ERISA and employee benefit plans. She represents for-profit and tax-exempt employers of all sizes during all stages in the life cycle of retirement, flexible benefits, and welfare benefit plans – from plan design and implementation, to plan operations, voluntary corrections, and plan amendments, mergers, spin-offs and terminations. She also counsels employers on dealing with employee benefit plans in mergers and acquisitions.
Ms. Aska received her J.D. from the University of Wisconsin, her M.P.A. from the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University and her B.A. from Wheaton College (Norton, Massachusetts).
