April 26, 2017 - Murtha Cullina LLP Mourns the Loss of Retired Partner Irwin J. Hausman
Statement from Jennifer Morgan DelMonico, Managing Partner of Murtha Cullina LLP:
“We are extremely saddened to announce that former Murtha Cullina Partner and Of Counsel Irwin J. Hausman passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017. Our thoughts and prayers are with Irwin’s family and friends.”
Irwin had an active real estate practice for over 40 years. His practice included large residential developments, office building construction and rehabilitation, development of elderly housing and assisted living projects. He served as an arbitrator and co-authored several articles. He served as Chairman of the Hartford County Bar Association Real Estate Committee and also served on the Association’s Board of Directors. He was a James W. Cooper Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation.
Irwin chaired the Firm’s diversity program and established a mentoring reading program in the Hartford Public Schools.
Irwin served as Chair of the Connecticut Civil Rights Committee of the Anti-Defamation League and was a member of the National ADL Civil Rights Committee. In 2002, Irwin and his family were honored with a Service Award from the Anti-Defamation League.
“Irwin was everything you would want in a lawyer and in a partner,” said Robert Giunta, a long-time friend of Irwin and partner of Murtha Cullina. “Irwin was the consummate professional. He was loyal and kind. Without a doubt, Irwin was probably one of the most popular and well liked attorneys among the staff. He had a great sense of humor and was always ready to have fun. He is dearly missed.”
