STAMFORD, CT (April 21, 2017)…Murtha Cullina LLP is pleased to welcome Salvatore G. Gangemi as a Partner. He is a member of the Litigation Department and the Labor and Employment Practice Group.
Mr. Gangemi advises clients with respect to state, federal and local employment laws, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family Medical Leave Act, and New York State and City employment laws. He handles matters in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, New York State Division of Human Rights, New York City Commission on Human Rights, the United States Department of Labor, and New York State Department of Labor, among others. In addition, Mr. Gangemi litigates matters involving misappropriation of trade secrets, restrictive covenants, breach of employment contract, fiduciary duty, and other work-related common law claims.
Mr. Gangemi counsels clients on day-to-day issues involving workplace management and administration, including requests for reasonable accommodation for disabilities, for family and medical leave, and wage and hour issues. He conducts employment law training on a variety of topics, including sexual harassment prevention and wage/ hour compliance. Mr. Gangemi also drafts employment policies and agreements, and assists clients in auditing worker classification practices and policies both in the context of the Fair Labor Standards Act and state laws governing independent contractor determinations.
Mr. Gangemi frequently lectures on employment law matters, and at continuing legal education seminars. He has written extensively on employment law issues as well as other legal issues affecting individuals and businesses.
Mr. Gangemi received his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law and his B.A. from St. John’s University. He is on the Board of Advisors of the St. John’s Labor and Employment Law Center and is on the Board of Directors of the St. John’s University School of Law Alumni Board. He is also a member of the Federal Bar Council and the Society for Human Resource Management. He is admitted to practice law in New York and anticipates Connecticut admission in 2017.
