New Haven, CT (July 29, 2016)… On July 27, 2016, the Town of Cheshire unanimously reappointed Murtha Cullina Partner Alfred E. Smith, Jr. as Town Attorney.
Mr. Smith has been the Cheshire Town Attorney since 2006, and will continue the tradition of providing Cheshire and its officials with high-quality, practical legal advice in virtually all areas of municipal law, including governance, land use, Freedom of Information Act, procurement and real estate.
Mr. Smith currently Chair’s the Firm’s Regulatory Department and is co-chair of the Municipal Practice Group. He has also been a member of the Firm’s Environmental Practice Group since 1986. Additionally, he was the Managing Partner of Murtha Cullina from 2003 through 2008. Mr. Smith earned his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and his law degree from the University of Connecticut Law School.
The Municipal Law Practice Group of Murtha Cullina LLP includes attorneys with experience that extend to nearly every type of legal service required by a municipality. Currently, the Firm also serves as general counsel or town attorney for seven Connecticut municipalities.
