| Our summer program has two
purposes: to acquaint summer associates with the firm,
its people and its practice; and to allow the firm an
opportunity to evaluate potential associates. The program
is closely managed and is the cornerstone of the firm's
permanent recruitment effort. Each summer associate should
plan to spend a minimum of eight weeks with us.
The coordinators of the summer program distribute assignments with the goal of allowing summer associates the opportunity to work with different lawyers in as many of practice areas as possible. As frequently as we can, we arrange for summer associates to observe and participate in "outside" events such as trials, depositions, hearings, negotiations and closings. Summer associates meet often as a group to discuss problems, offer suggestions and learn about our practice. Lawyers within the firm meet with the group to describe the work of the various practice groups and departments. Supervising attorneys evaluate the work of each summer associate and discuss projects with the associate. Members of a Reading Committee of attorneys intensively review a number of written projects of each summer associate, providing suggestions on the improvement of writing and analytical skills. In addition, each summer associate receives an individual review conducted by the firm.
How To Apply:
When applying for a summer associate position, please forward a cover letter,
resume, law school transcript, along with a brief legal
writing sample.
